Brought to you by the leader in water industry automatic meter reading (AMR) systems, DIOPTASE RadioSystem brings the advantages of fixed-network technology to utilities of all sizes.
Fixed-Network Advantages
Consumers are increasingly aware of the value of water, gas and electricity. Across the world, water and energy conservation programs are becoming the norm. Utilities, expected to lead the way in managing our supplies, need more accurate and timely information to provide this stewardship.
Fixed networks afford many advantages over other means of water, gas and electricity data collection:
• Now there’s no need to go out and get meter readings. They come to you – daily, or as often as you like. No more sending meter readers out into harsh or dangerous environments. Meter data collection is automatic.
• Daily data supports off-cycle reads. No more estimating bills for move-ins and move-outs.
• Billing cycles are more flexible and can be more frequent. This improves cash flow and makes optimal use of customer support ressources.
• Historical usage data are available to Customer Support to help in resolution of billing issues. Customer inquiries can be answered on the first call.
• Daily data can be used to monitor compliance with water use restrictions during periods of shortage.
• Water, gas and electricity system performance can be monitored. Water main leakage can be detected by comparing bulk meter flow to the total of the individual downstream users.
DIOPTASE RadioSystem makes it All Possible
In addition to providing powerful performance, DIOPTASE RadioSystem is designed to be easy to install and operate. Features like these set DIOPTASE apart from the competition:
• Leak detection circuitry is built into every DIOPTASE Data Collector. Utilities can notify customers of suspected leakage and fraud before lots of water – and money – is wasted.
• Tamper and detection warnings provide timely notification to the utility that something’s amiss at the meter.
• DIOPTASE transmitters can be installed indoors or out. All electronic components are fully sealed against the harshest weather conditions. A 10-15 years prorated transmitter lifetime puts DIOPTASE once again at the forefront of the industry.
• DIOPTASE software runs on any recent Windows®-based PC platform. Standard or customized reports can be generated automatically. Operation is simple and intuitive, and DIOPTASE Software is designed for easy interface to existing utility billing system.
How it Works: Easy As 1 - 2 - 3
DIOPTASE employs high-powered meter transmitters with an economical network of signal repeaters and data collectors to bring AMR to your desktop. Follow the diagram to the right to see the steps along the way:
1. Signals from DIOPTASE transmitters are received and saved by data collectors. Each data collector has enough capacity for up to 10,000 meter accounts.
2. Transmitters that are not within direct range of a data collector may have their signals relayed by a repeater. Economical repeaters effectively extend the range of the data collectors.
3. The central office computer is programmed to call the data collector on a preset schedule, usualy once per day. Data from the collectors are downloaded to the central computer for archive and analysis or can be directly imported into DIOPTASE Systems Range like DIOPTASE EasyBilling and DIOPTASE Readings Manager. |
